ALEA has an annual national conference which is normally located in a capital city, which is chosen in systematic way so that it moves around the states and territories of Australia. These conferences are always well attended, and attract from 600 to 1500 participants. The programs feature internationally known literacy educators as well as Australian teachers, educators, researchers, and publishers. Most States also have their own conferences on an annual basis. The 2005 National Conference was held on the Gold Coast, Queensland at Broadbeach from 1-4 July 2005. The 2006 National Conference was held in Darwin from 8-11 July 2006 The 2007 National Conference was held in Canberra from 8-11 July 2007 The 2008 National Conference was held in Adelaide from 6-9 July 2008 The 2009 National Conference was held in Hobart from 9-12 July 2009 The 2010 National Conference was held in Perth from 4-7 July 2010 The 2011 National Conference was held in Melbourne from 8-10 July 2011 |
