Welcome to the Meanjin Website.

Meanjin is the local South-East Queensland branch of the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association, ALEA.

Like ALEA, Meanjin is dedicated to the improvement of literacy development and English language learning at all levels.

Brisbane Meanjin Local Council is a non-profit association. All activities are run by a group of volunteer teachers, school administrators & university academics.

Meanjin provides support to educators, students and others interested in literacy through conferences, workshops and seminars, writers' camps, journals and other publications.

The name Meanjin is derived from the Aboriginal name for the finger of land on which central Brisbane is located.
